Questions worth asking before your bathroom remodel starts

A good remodeler answers these easily. They also help you compare more than one quote on the same terms.

  1. What does the quote cover?
  2. How will the shower and floor be waterproofed?
  3. What happens if you find a problem in the wall?
  4. Who handles permits and inspections?
  5. How do we live in the house during the work?
  6. What does the final walk-through look like?

What does the quote cover?

Ask for a written scope: what comes out, what goes in, which fixtures and tile are included and what is left to you.

How will the shower and floor be waterproofed?

Tile alone does not stop water. Ask about the membrane behind it and how the floor slopes to the drain.

Thinking about your own bathroom?

Call any time. Tell us which room you have in mind and we will set up the free estimate.

What happens if you find a problem in the wall?

Old plumbing and damaged framing show up in many older bathrooms. Ask how they are priced and who approves the change.

Who handles permits and inspections?

When the work needs a permit, find out who pulls it and who is on site for the inspection.

How do we live in the house during the work?

Ask how floors are protected, how dust is contained and what hours the crew works.

What does the final walk-through look like?

A good remodeler goes through the finished room with you and fixes anything that is not right.
